highlights

Dr. Bhandari grew up in Calgary, Alberta as a multi-sport athlete, competing in soccer, track and field, and martial arts. During his high school years, he competed nationally in open martial arts tournaments, and was a 3-time running national champion in his style of Kung-Fu. Due to his long list of injuries, he slowly transitioned from competing to coaching. As a young athlete and a coach, Dr. Bhandari learned to emphasize a holistic approach that not only optimized physical function, but also mental and emotional aptitude. He was extremely passionate about diet and lifestyle and how these played a role in overall health and, specifically, sports performance. His passion for sports medicine also began early, taking his first sports medicine class at the age of 13!

Prior to entering Naturopathic medical school, Dr. Bhandari spent several years training professional, semi-professional, and amateur level athletes (NHL, NCAA, WHL) as a strength and conditioning coach, as well as running a corrective and rehabilitative exercise training company, while completing his Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise and Health Physiology through the prestigious Kinesiology program at the University of Calgary. During this time, he also underwent training for and helped with administering exercise training programs for cardiac rehabilitation patients.

Combining his passion with his long list of personal injuries and health issues, Dr. Bhandari eventually found his way to a Naturopathic Doctor who helped guide him in his personal health journey. Learning about the principles and philosophy of Naturopathic Medicine, and understanding the role that this type of medical provider could fill in the greater healthcare system was the major turning point for Dr. Bhandari, and this led him to pursue his studies at Bastyr University, arguable the most prestigious Naturopathic Medical school in North America.
