PEPTIDE THERAPY

the what, the when, the how & the who.

1

WHAT ARE PEPTIDES?

Peptides are small chains of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. Various combinations of amino acids linked together will form peptides, and depending on the specific amino acids and the sequence of those amino acids, the peptide will take a specific structural shape which will then dictate its biological function.

Peptides can be naturally occurring, formed in the body while proteins are synthesized or broken down, or can be synthetically made in the laboratory, designed to have a specific biological function in the body. These peptides generally act in the body as signaling molecules, directing communication between various cells and other signaling molecules, and helping to govern cell functions. When utilized in a specific manner, these effects can be guided towards stimulating a therapeutic effect.

what is peptide therapy?

2

Peptide therapy is the use of peptides to stimulate a specific therapeutic effect in the body. Peptides can either turn cell functions on or off, affecting production of proteins, hormones, cell to cell communication and signaling, or even cellular regeneration or cell death. Most peptides are administered through subcutaneous (under the skin) injections, however there are a handful of peptides that can also be taken orally as capsules, applied topically as creams, or sprayed into the nose for direct entry into the brain!

what can peptide therapy be used for?

3

Peptides have been around for a long time, and have been used for a variety of different conditions and desirable effects. Some peptides can help stimulate the release of growth hormone or decrease the inhibition of growth hormone release, while others can stimulate breakdown of fat, decrease inflammation, increase collagen production, upregulate immune system functions, stimulate regeneration of various cells and tissues.

Can Peptide therapy work for me?

4

Peptide Therapy is safely and effectively used to treat a number of conditions.
Some of the conditions or purposes peptide therapy may be used for are:

  • Anti-aging
  • Weight loss
  • Supporting hormone production
  • Regeneration of various tissues (ligaments, tendons, muscle, nerves, cartilage)
  • Hair restoration
  • Healing gastrointestinal lining in cases of IBD
  • Immune stimulation or immune system balancing
  • Increasing muscle mass
  • Maintaining neurocognitive health
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Improving libido and sexual dysfunction
